India is set to witness biggest protest yet against the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 old currency notes on Monday as at least 18 opposition parties prep for countrywide bandh and marches.

Samajwadi Party workers started their protests against the currency ban at Allahabad by clocking railway tracks and raising slogans.

Congress, TMC, CPM, CPI, NCP, BSP, AAP and RJD are expected to be part of protests on Monday. TMC leader Mamata Banerjee had earlier lead the protest march to Rashtrapati Bhawan.

However, Congress has said that it will neither participate nor support bandh but will take out protests marches and Nitish Kumar’s JDU has decided to completely by-pass the protests and support the currency ban.
