Siege by Army in Anantnag, woman killed in crossfire; 3 militants including Lashkar commander Bashir Lashkari suspected trapped

Three militants, including Lashkar commander Bashir Lashkari are reportedly trapped inside a house in Dialgam district of Anantnag in south Kashmir as Army is engaged in gunfire since early Saturday morning.

A female local resident has been killed in the crossfire, followed by clashes at the encounter site.

“Forces received specific information about the presence of 2/3 LeT militants at Brinthi Batpora, Dialgam district Anantnag, south Kashmir. While laying cordon, militants were found holed up in a house. As forces tried to open the house few ladies and an old man found inside, in the mean time militants fired and army retaliated and in crossfire on lady namely Tahira got killed,” the official statement said.

Forces also have doubt that there can be more militants also other than the house. Police says reports are that Lashkar commander Bashir Lashkari is trapped.

9 Rashtriya Rifles and Anantnag Police were conducting a joint operation.
