Hemraj’s wife challenges Talwar couple’s acquittal in Supreme Court
Wife of Talwar couple’s domestic help, Hemraj, has moved to the Supreme Court, challenging acquittal of the dentist couple in 2008 Arushi-Hemraj murder case.
Hemraj’s wife Khumkala Banjade said, “The Allahabad High Court has accepted that her husband was killed and the investigating agency or CBI cannot abandon its responsibility to uncover the murder.”
The Rajesh and Nupur Talwar were found not guilty by the Allahabad High Court in October.
The Allahabad High Court had acquitted the Talwars in the case, saying neither the circumstances nor the evidence was enough to hold them guilty. The Noida couple who were sentenced to life by a Ghaziabad CBI court on November 28, 2013 for the double murders that not only transfixed but also shook the nation with its element of filicide.
Rajesh and Nupur’s daughter Aarushi, 13, was found with her throat slit in her bedroom in an apartment in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida. A day later, the body of, Hemraj, who was from Nepal, was found on the roof of the house.
Rajesh and Nupur Talwar in 2013 were convicted by a CBI court and were jailed for life. Talwar couple had denied the murder and insisted that they were victims of botched investigations and unfair media coverage.
