Ex-PM’s condition critical, on life support system, says AIIMS

Former prime minister and BJP stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s health condition worsened on Wednesday and he was put on life support system at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) hospital. In a late-night health bulletin, the hospital said that Vajpayee’s health deteriorated over the last 24 hours. 93-year-old Vajpayee, the only non-Congress leader to complete a five-year tenure as PM of India, was admitted to AIIMS hospital on June 11. He was diagnosed with a kidney tract infection, a urinary tract infection chest congestion. Several BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Smriti Irani, Harsh Vardhan Singh and others, visited the ailing BJP veteran at AIIMS hospital on Wednesday night.
