People, politicians pay homage to ex-PM, final journey to start at 1 pm

The last rites of former prime minister and country’s tallest leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be held at 4 pm at Rashtriya Smrthi Sthal in Delhi today (Friday). The body of Bharat Ratna Vajpayee has been kept at his official residence—6, A Krishna Menon Marg—for last respects. People would be allowed to pay last respects to Vajpayee from 7:30 am to 8:30 am. After that, his body would be taken to BJP headquarters at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg. His funeral procession would leave for Smrthi Sthal at 1 pm. Vajpayee, a statesman politician and passionate poet breathed his last at 5:05 pm on Thursday. The 93-year-old BJP leader was suffering from multiple ailments for the last nine weeks. He was admitted to AIIMS hospital on June 11.
