Five Killed In Maharashtra Ordnance Factory Blast, Sources Say Casualty Could Be Higher
A major explosion has occurred at the Ordnance Factory in Jawaharnagar. Preliminary reports indicate that the blast took place in the factory section where raw materials used for the production of RDX are processed. Five people have died in the incident, confirmed Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly Vijay Wadettiwar.
The death toll may be higher, said sources. Several people were injured in the incident, which occurred at 10:30 AM. The sound of the explosion was heard nearly 5 km away.
Jawaharnagar, located near Bhandara, is home to a defence manufacturing company.
Reports indicate that the building where the explosion occurred was completely destroyed. Authorities from the factory, police, and fire departments arrived at the scene. It is believed that seven to eight workers were present in the building at the time of the blast.
The exact cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.
