Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and known poet and storyteller, Kumar Vishwas did not mince his words on Arvind Kejriwal’s defeat in the New Delhi assembly seat. Once seen celebrating AAP’s victories alongside Kejriwal, Vishwas said that arrogance had finally met its match. Reflecting on the party’s downfall, he mentioned that the energy generated from the Anna movement was not utilised properly and compared Kejriwal to Duryodhan.

“The energy generated from the Anna movement could not be utilised properly. The arrogant Duryodhana has met his downfall. Dushasana has also been defeated. This arrogant one now lies with a broken thigh,”

As the BJP is set to form a government in Delhi after more than 26 years, activist Anna Hazare also criticized the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP, stating that the party “drowned” due to its liquor policy and focus on money, failing in its duty to serve people selflessly.

With the latest trends showing the BJP leading in 47 of the 70 assembly seats and AAP in 23, Hazare remarked that AAP’s image was tarnished by the liquor policy controversy.

“With the liquor policy issue came the money, and they drowned in it. People saw that he (Arvind Kejriwal) talks about clean character and then about liquor,” Hazare, who led the 2011 anti-corruption movement, told reporters.

The Kejriwal-led AAP was founded in 2012 following the anti-corruption movement, but according to Hazare, the party lost because it failed to understand the importance of selfless service and took the wrong path, allowing money to take precedence, which ultimately led to its defeat.

“AAP lost as it failed to understand the need to serve people selflessly and took the wrong path. Money took the front seat which dented AAP’s image, leading to its defeat,” Hazare said.
